Rail Forum Rules

Purpose

The rail forum is the bulletin board established by Railwaypeople.com to provide a friendly medium for discussions, news, real life experiences and good news stories which can be accessed by anyone. Any adult may register and post contributions to The rail forum - you do not need to be a student or professional within the rail sector.

Rules

We at Railwaypeople.com have developed the following rules to promote responsible use of The rail forum to everyone's benefit. In return for your being able to access and use The rail forum you agree to abide by these Rules and acknowledge we will be strictly enforcing them. These Rules should be read with our Terms and Conditions for use which contain important information about our and your liability (which together with the Rules are referred to as "the Standards").

Material posted here may, at our discretion, be removed, whether the material is in breach of the Standards or not, without further comment or notice to you. We reserve the right to identify you in response to a Court Order or threat of legal action.

You accept that you will not post material which contains any:-

  • Profanity or obscenities of any kind, even disguised with asterisks;
  • Personal attacks on other participants or third parties;
  • Defamatory, obscene, indecent, rude, pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening, racist, hateful, inaccurate or harassing comments;
  • Comments off the discussion topics;
  • Advertising or marketing of any kind, including without limitation non-profit organisations, chain letters, pyramid schemes or the like;
  • Third party copyright material - you should use links instead of quotes from sources unless you are certain and have checked that you have right to use the material in this way;
  • Oversized fonts, JavaScript, tables, headings or other advanced HTML commands - only use bold or coloured fonts to emphasise your points;
  • Disclosure of the identity of any other users without their permission;
  • Invasion of privacy or breach of confidentiality generally or is otherwise illegal for any reason.

In addition you agree not to:

  • Impersonate any other participant or public figure - [you may chose an appropriate nickname if it complies with the above rules about material and so long as your real name has been disclosed in the personal information field (which is not publicly visible)];
  • Cross-post (posting the message in more than one place on The rail forum) as this may delay getting an answer;
  • Misrepresent your affiliation or connection with a person or entity or disguise the origin of any content;
  • Collect or store personal data about other users;Upload, post or email any junk mail, spam or any content that contains computer viruses or code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any software, hardware or telecommunications equipment.

Violations and Further Information

Sanctions

If we receive what we consider to be a valid complaint or notification of infringement of the Standards or other legal rights or duties then we will take prompt appropriate action. Our decision is final (subject to court order otherwise) and we do not have to give reasons for the deletion, adaptation or suspension of any material or any registrations for use of The rail forum.

You are entirely responsible for the content of the material that you supply. We reserve the right to take whatever action we deem necessary to prevent breaches of the Standards including the following:-

  1. Breaches we deem minor may result simply in a warning from us; or
  2. Breaches we deem serious may result in your automatic ban from The rail forum and/or our site generally;

Any breaches may lead to us reporting your activities to your internet service provider, your employer, relevant authorities, or to legal action being taken against you, or both. In addition We may at any time move, modify or remove any content or take further legal action as a result of breaches or suspected breaches of the Standards, our Privacy Policy, any applicable laws or regulations or third party rights.

If someone is barred that may be either permanent or temporary and such user must not make an attempt to use this site under any other name or through any other user. If you take any action against another user then you will do so without involving us.

You acknowledge that we do not pre-screen content but we shall have the right (but not the obligation) in our sole discretion to move, modify or remove any content is available on or via The rail forum.
