Signalling Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Job Purpose
The Signalling Mechanical Engineering Manager will be leading a team of 4 Mechanical Engineers responsible for providing professional engineering support to London Underground’s signalling maintenance activities and capital projects.

Key Accountabilities
• Providing engineering leadership to a team which is involved in the preparation of designs for the installation and maintenance of railway signalling equipment.
• Carry out detailed investigations into signalling equipment failures or irregularities and develop cost effective solutions.
• Optimise maintenance processes and internal engineering standards.
• Lead the development and adoption of innovative solutions; identify, quantify and manage risk.
• Lead the successful delivery of complex multi-disciplinary tasks through liaison with a variety of engineering departments.
• Guide and mentor others within the team.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Preferably a chartered engineer or equivalent.(Essential)
• Substantial experience in the design and in-depth knowledge of signalling equipment, including structural analysis.(Essential)
• Good understanding of mechanical interfaces between signalling mechanical equipment and other railway assets.(Essential)
• Proven record of investigating failures and developing cost effective solutions.(Essential)
• Customer focused and thorough understanding of project/task delivery process (safety, time, cost, quality).(Essential)
• Excellent communication skills.(Essential)
• Previous people management experience (Desirable).
• Successful track record of developing detailed design using Bentley Microstation CAD system and Projectwise drawing management system.(Essential)
• Detailed knowledge of current drawing standards ISO. BS 3939 & BS 308 etc.(Essential)
• Computer literate in MS office applications (Essential)
