Our client is looking for a number of Construction Managers for this high profile major rail project.
The job will support in managing the contractor’s performance with regard to progress, cost and health & safety at the contract level. Using authority delegated by the Project Manager to manage all construction contracts within area of responsibility, supported by Site Teams at each geographic location or system based area of responsibility.
Principal Accountabilities
To support in relation to:
• Managing the Construction Package elements of the procurement process
• Managing contract interfaces on site, and coordination across contracts with other Construction Managers.
• Keeping the Project Manager informed of contract and site progress & performance.
• Supporting the PM in the review and acceptance of the programme, and the review of payment applications.
• Communicating with and instructing contractors in accordance with the Works Contracts Administration Procedures on behalf of the Project Manager, through specialist contract administrator, using the project administration software.
• Developing relations with local community with support from PDP stakeholder liaison office.
• Supervising & leading Site Managers including reviewing their daily and weekly reports.
• Maintaining contract performance against project milestones, KPIs, programme, budget and other established metrics.
• Managing the contract through all stages from award, mobilisation, production, start-up, commissioning, snagging, take over and closeout.
• Providing constructability input to design.
• Establishing key relationships between the PDP and contractor senior management.
• Establishing relationships with the Contractors on a Quality basis.
• Monitoring the Work Programme and notifying Crossrail and external organisations of activities and interventions.
• Assisting the PFE in ensuring Contractor compliance with the PDP Construction Quality Plan.
• Leads the reviews and acceptance of selected contractor submittals.
• Assisting the PFE in the management of NCRs and Snag List items at contract level.
• Supports the PFE in the review and acceptance of the Contractors Commitments Compliance Plan.
• Supports the SM in monitoring contractor compliance with their CCP.
• Discharging its duties under the CDM Regulations 2007, complying with the CRL management arrangements for CDM, within their area of responsibility,
• Co-operate with Crossrail in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.
• Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the Crossrail Target Zero principles.
• Co-operate with Crossrail in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times
• Act as a role model for Crossrail’s vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with Crossrail’s Ways of Working. Encourage and support others to do so too

Key working relationships
• Reports to Project Manager
• Works closely with site managers, project field engineer and contractors’ representatives.
Person Specification
• Engineering qualification, preferably Civil, or equivalent experience
• Experience of managing the construction of significant value packages of work on a major infrastructure project.
• Knowledge and experience of construction quality systems and processes
• Knowledge of project controls processes
• Knowledge and experience of site-based ES&H processes and procedures
• Experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
• Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
• Construction regulatory standards (CDM) experience and relevant experience in Construction Planning & Scheduling
