Working within a team of project and construction managers, you’ll ensure the successful delivery of a rolling programme of track renewals and associated works to time, cost and quality targets, with full accountability for the approved budget and delivery of project benefits. As well as providing a strategic overview of the portfolio, you’ll be responsible for everything from determining requirements, appointing contractors and approving technical specifications to liaising with external parties and providing regular management reports. Key priorities will include developing the skillset of your team, embedding processes and procedures to ensure consistency and identifying improvement and cost saving opportunities.
This could be the ideal career move for a project manager keen to assume more responsibility. You’ll already have proved you can manage and deliver all aspects of projects of up to £20 million in value in a complex, safety-focused environment. This will have given you a detailed knowledge of contractual issues, financial control and project management tools. Your outstanding people management, communication and relationship building skills will be supported by an engineering professional qualification.
