An established civil engineering contractor engaged on a variety of major civil engineering and rail regeneration projects currently has an opportunity for a Section Engineer to join their project team. Following the award of additional projects comprising of reconstruction of bridge structures , construction of retaining walls and new build and refurbishment of platforms, they are looking to appoint a knowledgeable Section Engineer who is seeking to develop their career with a progressive organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Construction Manager , you will be responsible for the control, coordination and supervision of Site Engineers whilst also carrying out some setting out duties when required.

You will be accountable for controlling the technical aspects on site including review / production of method statements and risk assessments, assisting with the planning and programming of works, resolving technical issues, reading and interpreting drawings and requesting further information of clarity where required, supervision and control of sub contract and direct labour, liaison with the clients representatives, production / upkeep of site diary, QA, As Built and Health and Safety, attending progress meetings and assisting in the production of progress reports.

Requirements:

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be a minimum of HND qualified in Civil Engineering with a proven track record of working on major civil engineering projects as a Section Engineer . You will ideally have previous experience in the control and development of a team of Engineers, be adept in the use of Total Stations with the ability to coordinate engineering activities on site effectively.

You should be able to plan and programme works, read and interpret drawings, resolve technical issues and control and prioritising workload. Also, you will have gained experience in supervising and directing sub-contractors, be client facing, technically strong and ensure that the laid down systems and processes are adhered to.

You should have the flexibility to travel and work across the Southern UK on a mixture of schemes.
