Primary Responsibilities:
As a Multi-Discipline Project Manager within the Transport Infrastructure Section based out of our clients London or Manchester office, your role will be to take the lead in the effective running of major projects and complex rail and other transport schemes. You will be accountable for the delivery packages of work to drive forward the completion of deliverables on the schemes, and will be required to take an engaged role with technical team members to ensure that projects are achieved on time, and right first time while maximising the return for the client.
The individual will have to be a highly motivated person and able to manage engineering teams with a wide variety of technical specialism’s from the Rail and other transport sectors. The individual will also be expected to manage client relationships and develop relationships with client engineers and management teams.
You will must be autonomous and an efficient self starter. You must demonstrate skills in monitoring your own performance and other processes and the performance of others working for you to achieve excellence in delivery.
Your role is to drive the project, delivering direct to our clients. You shall have extensive knowledge and understanding of the Rail Sector with demonstrable experience of key clients and delivery programmes. You will also be a required to liaise with the relevant clients, stakeholders and business managers to communicate clearly your strategies, plans and progress, both in written, presentation and verbal formats.
Within this role, you shall be responsible for the consideration of highest industry standards and the development of innovation, whilst closely managing the changes, technical issues, safety issues, and commercial activities when solving problems. You will be expected to create project teams which adhere to our client’s processes and policies.
A clear engineering knowledge of the following disciplines (but not limited to) is required, preferably with a background as a Chartered Engineer in one or more disciplines: Civils & Structures, Signals, OLE & Traction Power, P-way, Premises, Maintenance and Rolling Stock.
Outcomes / Accountabilities
•Educated to degree level in civil engineering / general engineering / project management or a related railway discipline.
•Chartered professional qualification from Institution of Civil Engineers / APM membership/ demonstrable CPD log
Experience
•You will have engineering experience of working in a multi disciplinary design project team
•Demonstrable financial and programme responsibility in previous roles, with clear success in achieving milestones and profit in pressured environments
•Knowledge and experience of railway depot projects
•Demonstrable experience leading high performance technical teams
•Technical knowledge of multi-discipline design schemes
•Demonstrable design delivery experience
•Programme literate and capable
•You will be able to lead by example to ensure that the required delivery to scope, time, cost and quality is achieved.
Technical Skills
•Fluent written and verbal English. A high level of technical written communication is required
•Numerically competent
•Practical rail knowledge and understanding
•Excellent presentation skills
•Should possess good interpersonal skills, good team leader skills with an innate ability to motivate a design team
•To be flexible and adaptable in the range of work undertaken and deliver it with enthusiasm
•To be self-motivated
•Willingness to help support and develop others
•IT literate and full use of all necessary Project Management software
